From Panipat to the World
Our journey began in the rug-making centers of Bhadohi and Panipat, where our passion for quality and innovation propelled us to the forefront of handcrafted rugs. We blend the timeless tradition of hand-weaving with modern technology, using graphics software for design while preserving the essence of traditional craftsmanship. Each rug is a testament to our dedication, using premium materials, natural dyes, and intricate hand-knotting on traditional looms.

Our 178,000-square-foot facility houses the entire rug-making process, guaranteeing top quality. Rooted in traditional hand-weaving, we also innovate with new collections that push style boundaries.

Bhadohi, the carpet city of India, the seeds of a legacy were sown.
1980
Mr. Hamidullah Ansari, son of Mr. Haji Jaan, moved to Panipat & established Orient Carpet.
1988
Orient Carpet became Orient Exports & Export became part of the business..
2008
Orient Hometex was established by Mr. Firoz & Mr. Imran Ansari.
2018
Extrugs was started Mr. Monish Ansari as a subsidiary to Orient Hometex.

Bhadohi
Bhadohi is famed for its meticulously hand-knotted rugs, crafted with generations-old techniques by skilled artisans. Each knot is a testament to their dedication, resulting in rugs of unparalleled quality and timeless elegance.
Panipat
Panipat, on the other hand, is renowned for its vibrant and bold colors. Here, the focus lies on weaving techniques like handloom and flat-weaving, creating a kaleidoscope of designs that are both visually stunning and surprisingly versatile.

Hand- Knotted
Artisans tie individual knots on each warp thread on a loom, line by line. Each line is locked in place with a weft thread before starting the next. Quality is determined by Knots Per Square Inch (KPSI). More knots = higher quality.
- Timeframe : 2 months to over a year.
- Durabilty: Can last a lifetime
- Styles: Includes Persian, Turkish, Indo-Tibetan
Flat Weave
Warp and weft threads are interlocked, creating a thick cloth with no pile. Various patterns can be achieved by changing thread size, color, or interlocking styles.
- Timeframe: 2 months to over a year.
- Durability: Can last a lifetime.
- Features: Intricate geometric or floral designs.
Hand-tufted &
Micro-Hooked
A pattern is traced on backing fabric. Using a tufting gun, yarn is pushed into the fabric to form loops or piles.
- Timeframe: 2-4 months.
- Durability: Lasts 5-7 years.
- Features: Cost-effective with a canvas backing.
Handloom
Woven on a loom with warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. Loop and cut piles are used to create unique color effects.
- Timeframe: 2-4 months.
- Durability: Lasts 10-12 years.
- Features: Suitable for solids, stripes, and plaid patterns
Braided Rugs
Materials like wool, jute, or cotton are cut into strips, braided, and coiled into shapes (oval, round, rectangular). Braids are stitched together securely.
- Timeframe: 2-4 months.
- Durability: Lasts 7-10 years.
- Features: Versatile. Popular plant-based eco-friendly fibers include jute, hemp, nettle, and abaca.
Sumac Rugs
Woven on a loom with warp threads and weft yarns wrapped to create a raised, knotted effect on one side. Patterns are locked in place with additional rows of weft.

- Durability: Can last a lifetime.
- Features: Intricate geometric or floral designs.

ORIENT IS GOING GREENER
Orient is proud to announce ambitious science based targets (SBTi) approved by the science based target initiative (SBTi) for a greener future. These SBTi chart course for significant reductions in our environmental footprint.
Partering woth GreenStitch, a sustainability for software leader, we’ve meticulously assessed our impact and set a path for reduction. Their tools will help us efficiently track progress towards these SBTi.
By 2030, we aim for 42% cut in Scopes 1 & 2 GHG emissions (2023 baseline). This ambitious goal aligns with critical 1.5° pathway of the Paris Agreement. We’re further committed to measuring and reducing Scope 3 emissions with GreenStitch’s guidance, demonstrating our comprehensive environmental responsibility.
